Thrive privacy policy
Updated 2026-09-03
Draft. This describes what the app does today and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It is here so beta testers can see what happens to their data. The final policy replaces it.
What Thrive stores
Your account: an identifier from Apple or Google, or an anonymous identifier before you sign up. Your profile: the name you give, your time zone, when your day starts, your reminder and appearance settings, and a profile photo if you choose one. What you put into the app: goals, milestones, tasks, habits, daily check-ins, end-of-day reviews, focus sessions, energy entries, feedback you send, your onboarding answers, and the short notes the assistant keeps about how you like to work. This lives in a database hosted by Supabase in the United States. Every row is tied to your account and only your account can read it.
Signing in
You sign in with Apple or Google. Thrive receives an identity token, and with Apple optionally your name and a private relay or real email address. Thrive never sees a password. Before you sign up, the app can run on an anonymous account so you can start onboarding first.
The assistant
When you start a conversation, your microphone audio and anything you type are streamed live to OpenAI, whose Realtime API produces the assistant's voice and the actions it takes in the app. Thrive does not record or keep the audio. Changes the assistant makes (a new goal, a task, a habit) are saved to your account exactly like a manual edit. Thrive keeps the outcome of onboarding and a small set of preference notes, not transcripts. OpenAI's own handling of API data is governed by OpenAI's policies. [TODO: confirm and link the Realtime API data-retention terms.] Talking to the assistant needs microphone permission; you can turn it off in iOS Settings at any time and the rest of the app keeps working.
Notes
Notes are stored in your account like everything else you write. Dictating a note uses Apple's speech recognition on your device, or Apple's servers where your device has no on-device model for your language; Thrive never receives the audio, only the text. The text of a note is sent to OpenAI only when you press Organize or Discuss with assistant, the same way a spoken conversation is.
Crash reports
If the app crashes or hits an error, a report goes to Sentry with the app version, device model, iOS version, the screen you were on and an internal account identifier. Names, email addresses, IP addresses and anything you said or typed are removed before the report is sent.
Reminders
Reminders are scheduled on your device only. Thrive has no push server, and no reminder content leaves your phone.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist on the website, your email address is stored in the same Supabase database and with Resend, the service that sends the confirmation email and, later, the launch email. Nothing else is collected with it. Launch emails include an unsubscribe link, and you can ask to be removed at any time at the address below.
Analytics and advertising
Thrive contains no third-party analytics or advertising software.
How long Thrive keeps your data
Until you delete your account. An anonymous account that never signs up is deleted automatically three days after its last activity, along with everything it created.
Deleting your account
Settings, then Account, then Delete account. This removes your account and everything listed above at once: profile, photo, goals, tasks, habits, reviews, notes, onboarding answers and the activity log. It cannot be undone.
